New York Attorney General Charged With Criminal Financial Fraud Charges

The US attorney for the eastern district of Virginia handled the presentation of this case to the grand jury this Thursday, as reported.

US attorneys do not typically address such panels.

Halligan was appointed the position the previous month following Donald Trump grew impatient with the pace of investigations targeting political opponents.

This action is the president’s latest effort to leverage federal justice authorities to punish political rivals.

This occurs a fortnight after charges were filed against James Comey.

Long-serving lawyers drafted a memorandum regarding that situation detailing why indictments were not warranted.

Comey pleaded not guilty this past Wednesday.
